Today's Craving: The Polynesian

Welcome home, Cravers!

Today's Craving: Disney's Polynesian Resort! This is one of the most beautiful properties and is also one of the original Disney hotels. The atmosphere is unbeatable. There is nothing like walking the property after dinner and then finding a hammock to watch the fireworks in. This is also one of the few places in the world where you can get dole ice cream! Delicious. The Poly is definitely my kind of place.

Today's Craving: The Disney College Program

Welcome home, Cravers!

Today's Craving: The Disney College Program arrival day. This one is a bit nostalgic for me. Two years ago today I started my Disney internship. I actually met the person who would become my fiance on this day. I know a lot of interns hated this day because all we did was stand in long lines and wait around. But it was the beginning of an adventure! I didn't mind standing in line or waiting around. I met a lot of friends during this down time.  We went over living contracts, picked our apartments, went to casting to find out where we would be working and to meet the recruiters (I actually met the person who gave me my phone interview!), and then we moved in. It was a day for making friends and starting the adventure of a lifetime, and it was one of the best days of my entire life.

Anyways, I know I usually don't post personal posts on this blog, but today is too important to me to not post about. It's also Disney related... So I figure it works.

Anyone out there who is thinking about doing the college program, DO IT! Don't even hesitate. Those who end up not liking the internship are those who don't follow the easy rules set by Disney. These people usually go on the internship just so that they can take a semester off and party down in Florida (and they don't expect to have to work for some reason...) I had SO much time to have fun and do what I wanted as well as work... Not to mention I LOVED my job anyways. So, DO THE INTERNSHIP. Today's Craving: Anywhere in Disney so I don't have to take Finals.

Welcome home, Cravers!

Apologies for not having posted in a while. I've been studying/taking finals for the past two weeks and I have been preparing to finish up the semester. With that being said...

Today's Craving: Is to be anywhere in Disney so that I don't have to be here taking finals. But, then again, I would rather be in Disney no matter what I'm doing.

What gets me through finals? Disney music! I highly suggest Live365 radio. Stations I listen to most: MouseWorld Radio, Magical Mouse Radio, Reedy Creek Radio, and FastPass Radio (which is mainly Disneyland music.) There is a free application for iPhones, and the radio stations are free as well (with commercial interruptions)! Try it out!

And now to leave off with an inspirational quote from Walt:

"Whatever you do, do it well."

Today's Craving: Spaceship Earth!

Welcome home, Cravers!

Today's Craving: Spaceship Earth! For many people, Spaceship Earth provides a perfect nap before going out and hitting the park again. Personally, Spaceship Earth is a classic (even though it has been modified...). I mean, there is an actual attraction inside the iconic symbol of EPCOT. That is pretty cool. And it IS a nice slow paced ride for those who want to take a little break. One of the best parts of Spaceship Earth is the smell of burning wood in Rome. That is another smell that should be bottled and sold. I love the music inside Spaceship Earth as well. It is very soothing.

Did you know? Spaceship Earth weighs a whopping 15,520,000 pounds, "equal in weight to 158 million golf balls." (Jason Dixon 23 NOV 99).

Today's Craving: Pirates of the Caribbean!

Welcome home, Cravers!

"Yo ho, yo ho! A pirates life for me!"

Today's Craving: Everything about Pirates of the Caribbean! I love the music. In fact, I'm learning how to play the theme on my penny whistle (a flute like instrument used often by sailors back in the day.) "A Pirates Life for Me" is just one of the songs you have to sing a long to. The set of the ride is amazing as well. What makes the ride so great is all the little details. Ever notice the muddy foot that hangs down from the bridge towards the late middle part of the ride? How can you miss it! You almost think mud will drip off into your boat! One of the best scenes (if not the best scene) is the jail scene towards the end where the inmates are trying to lure the dog with the keys to their cell. One of my personal favorite pirates is one of the scoundrels in the raid the town scene. He is the pirate with one foot in a boat, an arm full of treasure, and a stack of awesome hats about ten feet tall on his head.

Of course, Pirates is one of the most quotable rides there is (along with Splash Mountain and Haunted Mansion.) "We wants the red head! We wants the read head!" "Carlos, don't be chicken!" "I'm not scrounging for rum! It be gold I'm after!" "Dead men tell no tales."

The best part of Pirates of the Caribbean? The smell of the water! It has to be among the best scents in the world. The smell of the ride alone brings back memories of great vacations. They should sell bottles of that water, or turn the scent into a candle. Just kidding. But really...

Today's Craving: Arrival Day!

Welcome home, Cravers!

Today's Craving: Arrival Day! There is nothing like the feeling of driving onto Disney property for the first time! Going through that Walt Disney World sign is like going home for the first time in a long time. Even the purple directional signs that line the road are exciting! I always keep my eyes peeled for a monorail passing by. It is also a great feeling when you arrive at the resort and step out onto property for the first time. For me, arrival day is spent swimming in the pool, going out to eat for a nice dinner, going to Downtown Disney, or a combination thereof. The parks usually wait until the next day. What is arrival day like for you??
